Apple Opens Applications for Swift Student Challenge 2024: Know Dates, Eligibility, Rewards

Apple has started inviting applications for its annual Swift Student Challenge, a global competition for students who want to become developers. The competition requires participants to showcase their coding skills and creativity through their app Playground. Every year, the Cupertino-based tech giant recognizes 350 winners from among the participants. This year, Apple will also select 50 outstanding presentations from among 350 winners and those participants will be invited to the company headquarters in Cupertino.

Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The Swift Student Challenge landing page is now live and interested students can start applying for the competition. According to Apple's eligibility criteria, applicants must be 13 years of age or older in the US and 16 years of age or older in the EU. In other areas, the relevant jurisdiction applies.

Applicants must either be enrolled in an accredited educational institution or official homeschool equivalent, enrolled in a STEM organization's educational curriculum, enrolled in the Apple Developer Academy, or have graduated from high school or equivalent within the last 6 months And must wait. Have received approval or acceptance from a recognized educational institution.

Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024 Rules

Participants will be required to create an interactive scene on any topic of their choice from the provided topics in Swift Playgrounds or Xcode. The first is an app playground for those who are very new to coding, and the second is for those who are proficient at it. The constructed playground experience should not exceed 3 minutes. Submissions must be in App Playground format (.swiftpm) in a zip file. The file must be playable offline and the file must include all required resources. Zip file size should not exceed 25MB.

App Playgrounds must be built and run with Swift Playgrounds 4.4 or later, which requires iPadOS 16 or macOS 13.5, or later, or Xcode 15 on macOS 13.5 or later.

Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024 Award

Like every year, Apple will choose 350 winners. These winners will receive recognition from the tech giant and will receive a one-year membership to the Apple Developer Program, a voucher that will allow the winners to participate in app development with Swift certification exams, and a gift from Apple.

However, this year, 50 outstanding submissions will be selected by Apple as 'Distinguished Winners' and will be invited to its Cupertino headquarters for three days in the summer. During the trip, the selected winners will get a chance to interact with Apple experts and engineers, participate in activities and more, the company said. The travel and accommodation expenses will be borne by the tech giant.
