According to the statement, these Australian citizens have now been denied entry to the Russian Federation.
It further added that Canberra has shown no signs of abandoning its anti-Russia stance and continuing to impose new sanctions, therefore, the ministry will update the list of Australians accordingly.
“Given that Canberra has shown no signs of abandoning its anti-Russia stance and pursuing new sanctions, we will further update the Russia sanctions list accordingly,” it added.
Several countries issued sanctions on Russian individuals and entities and restricted imports and exports from Russia after it launched an invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Australia imposed sovereign sanctions regarding Russia in response to the Russian threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. According to the Australian Foreign Ministry, these were first imposed in 2014 and extended in 2015, 2022 and 2023.
