Defending the Bangladesh Cricket Board's decision to bring Mustafizur Rahman back for the upcoming Zimbabwe T20I series instead of allowing him to play in the Indian Premier League 2024, BCB chairman of cricket operations Jalal Younis said the fast bowler has no chance in the Indian tournament. There is nothing to learn. It is noteworthy that Mustafizur is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. He was scheduled to return to Bangladesh on May 1 as per the No Objection Certificate received from the BCB, but his stay has been extended by a day on request. From CSK. The five-time champion requested to play Mustafizur in an extra game. CSK will face Punjab Kings on May 1.

“We are letting Mustafizur play till May 1. He is coming back on May 2 and will be available from the next day,” Younis was quoted as saying by Bangladeshi publication 'Daily Star' in Mirpur.

Mustafizur has played a key role in CSK's IPL 2024 campaign so far, taking 10 wickets in the first five matches.

Younis said, “Mustafizur has not learned anything from playing in the IPL. Mustafizur's learning process is over. In fact, there are many players in the IPL who can learn from him. This will not benefit Bangladesh.”

“Our concern is Mustafizur's fitness. They want to get 100 per cent from him. They have no headache about his fitness, but we do. The reason we brought Mustafizur back is not just to play in the Zimbabwe series, but if we bring him here We will plan for him with the workload, but if he is in the IPL then this plan will not be possible.”

Mustafizur is set to return to Bangladesh for the team's home T20I series against Zimbabwe from May 3 to 12. This will be followed by a T20I series against the United States, starting on May 21 in Texas.
