New Delhi: Australia'S beth mooney has been appointed captain of gujarat giants for the upcoming Women's Premier LeagueThe franchise, which starts on February 23, confirmed this on Wednesday.
Mooney, who was also named captain for the inaugural season, unfortunately got injured after the first game and was unable to continue participating in the competition. During his absence, India's all-rounder Sneh Rana Took charge of leading the side.
In the announcement for the upcoming season, Rana has been appointed the vice-captain of the team, marking his continued role within the leadership group.
Gujarat Giants, who finished bottom of the table in last season's five-team competition in 2023, have reposed confidence in the leadership duo of Mooney and Rana.
“They (Mooney and Rana) will be part of the leadership group along with head coach Michael Klinger, mentors and advisors Mithali Rajand assistant coach Nooshin Al Khadi,” the team said in a press release.
The franchise's campaign in the upcoming season will begin on February 25 against Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru, marking the beginning of their quest for better performance and success in the tournament.
