Latest celebrity to receive praise 12th failed Actor Vikrant Massey and director Vidhu Vinod Chopra are Boman Irani. On Thursday, the 3 Idiots actor penned a heartfelt and honest note dedicated to the young actor for his stellar performance in the film, which also won him a Filmfare Award recently. An excerpt from the detailed note reads, “You got it right Maisie… The truth is that the real preparation happens inside the soul of the character… You can't rehearse for that, can you? You just do it. You can live a confidence that goes far beyond your brilliant outward preparation for the role. You don't have to do anything for the camera. You have to be in front of the camera…” The caption of Boman Irani's post read, 'You heard me before Vikrant Massey knows me. One more time won't hurt.'

In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave 12th failed 3.5 out of 5 stars. About the film he wrote: “A realistic and restrained adaptation of a book of the same name, the film focuses on a young man, a struggling Hindi medium student, who travels through a lawless Chambal village. From rising to the top brass of the police force, inevitably overcoming many difficult obstacles along the way… 12th Fail is an entertaining, thought-provoking version of the true story of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. The screenplay presents a completely relevant narrative. It squeezes every ounce of drama out of the man's arduous journey without resorting to any kind of excess.
