Could Ishan Kishan Be Axed From BCCI’s Central Contracts List? Official Has This To Say

Ishan Kishan has been in the news continuously for the last one month after taking a break in the middle of India's tour of South Africa. While the BCCI was supportive of his decision to take a break, multiple reports have revealed that Ishan Kishan's lack of game time after the tour ended may have raised some eyebrows. Despite Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid saying that Ishan Kishan needs to play some form of cricket to make a comeback into the national team, Ishan Kishan is missing from the scene. Despite the ongoing Ranji Trophy campaign, Ishan is not competing in the major domestic competition and is rather training on his own.

Due to this, speculations have intensified regarding the future of Ishan Kishan in Indian cricket.

Asked whether Kishan Kishan would find himself out of BCCI retainership (he has a Grade C annual contract worth Rs 1 crore), a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity: “As far as central contracts are concerned, There has been no discussion yet.”

With the ICC T20 World Cup starting on June 1 in the US and India playing their first match in New York on June 5, the workload on India's core group of players will increase during the IPL, which will be held temporarily between March 22 and 20. Is going to be determined from. 26th May will be a very important day.

However, it is understood that no Indian player should be given any instructions regarding workload management during the IPL as it is also not fair to the franchises who are paying top dollar to star Indian players.

“They are being paid highly and cannot choose the games for the franchise. But yes, for all those centrally contracted and targeted players (next team), the support staff of the franchises have to regularly submit fitness updates to NCA Sports Science. Will have to be provided by Chief Nitin Patel,” an official told PTI.

It is understood that BCCI may send those players whose teams do not qualify for the IPL playoffs to New York first, while those who played in the knock-out stage will join them after the tournament is over.
