Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee is busy promoting his film these days. Love, Sex and Cheating 2, took a walk down memory lane remembering his conversation with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Dibakar Banerjee collaborated with Sushant in his 2015 directorial debut-Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, Now while talking to Siddharth Kanan, the filmmaker has praised Sushant and expressed regret over the conspiracy theory related to his death. Dibakar Banerjee said, “He had immense curiosity.” He kept asking questions. Everyone liked to be with him. When I worked with him, I liked his curiosity. He wanted to know about everything. I am not very social so when we met we were very open. I have all the good memories of him so I'm sad.

When asked if Sushant Singh Rajput's death hit him like a bullet, Dibakar said he had to kill himself, as the media coverage focused only on the “conspiracy” surrounding his death. Dibakar Banerjee said, “When he passed away, there was a lot going on in the news regarding the reason for his death. I had to isolate myself from everything. I was listening to everything but couldn't hear anyone saying that a young actor had died. I could not see anyone mourning around him. I could only see people trying to find spicy gossip. So, I had to move away from this situation.

Dibakar Banerjee said, “Nobody was saying 'we are missing Sushant.' No one was talking about how despite being an outsider he acted in television and eventually made his debut in films. Everyone was just speculating about the conspiracy, how he died, who gave drugs to Sushant, who murdered him. Where was the mourning for Sushant? Where is the retrospective on his films? People who loved him should have held screenings of his films and discussed it. Why don't we cherish all their good memories? Sushant Singh Rajput has become a gateway to suffering.”

Dibakar Banerjee finally said, “I feel very bad about it because I knew him. he was alive. He was breathing, laughing with me, memorizing his script and acting with me. So, when he is no longer a human being, where is that lamentation? That's what I felt at that time.”

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. He was 34 years old.
