After MS Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings, former England captain Michael Vaughan has made a bold claim on social media. The franchise announced on social media on Thursday that Ruturaj Gaikwad will replace Dhoni in the role. The decision marks the end of Dhoni's glorious reign as CSK captain, during which he led the team to five IPL titles. Dhoni captained CSK in all 14 editions played till IPL 2023.

Vaughan, under whom England won the Ashes in 2005, wrote on Twitter, “No MS Dhoni captain for ChennaiIPL!!! Makes their position worse by about 20%.. #IPL24.”

Even in IPL 2022, CSK tried to move ahead of Dhoni and two days before the start of the season, they made Ravindra Jadeja the captain. But the franchise faced a difficult start to the campaign, winning only two of its first eight matches. As a result, Dhoni was made captain of CSK in mid-season after Ravindra Jadeja left the role to “focus on his game”.

Moving away from the matter of money and purely on cricketing skills, CSK will be the favorite for a sixth IPL title in 2024 with all the bases covered.

Rachin Ravindra was the breakout star of the World Cup and now he has a chance to become a T20 superstar.

Much-maligned seamer Deepak Chahar, who is often accused of making CSK his first priority, wants his wrists to do the talking for him and with new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja in the mix, there could be anything and everything.

And how can anyone forget the smiling murderer Dhoni? All it takes is one six in T20 cricket and Dhoni's love affair with the maximum is eternal.
