New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won by six wickets in a thrilling match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). ipl 2024 Opener at Chepauk Stadium.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis admitted that his team fell behind by about 15-20 runs and highlighted the less challenging nature of the pitch compared to the early batting struggles.
During the post-match presentation Faf commented, “We were probably about 15-20 runs short, the pitch was not as bad as we played on in the first 10 overs.” A promising start from Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli.
However, a resilient effort from Anuj Rawat, who scored 48 off 25 balls, and Dinesh KarthikHe remained unbeaten on 38 runs in 26 balls, taking RCB to a respectable score of 173/6 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Reflecting on CSK's bowling ability, Faf admitted “Mustafizur was the bowler of choice for CSK,” he said, citing Mustafizur Rahman's impressive spell.

Faf praised Dinesh Karthik's performance during the chase, saying, “It's really good for Dinesh to set up his season, especially for someone who hasn't played a lot of cricket.”

Mustafizur Rahman's stellar performance earned him the coveted 'Player of the Match' award, making it a memorable start to the tournament for CSK.
