Maharashtra Police's cyber cell has filed an FIR against an X user for allegedly uploading a 'deepfake' or manipulated video in which actor Ranveer Singh is seen appealing to vote for Congress, an official said. Have been.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Tuesday on a complaint filed by the actor's father Jugjit Singh Bhavnani against user @sujataindia1st, the official said.

According to the complaint, when Ranveer Singh was in Varanasi to promote a fashion show, he gave an interview to the media and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the FIR, the actor said, “Celebrating our rich culture, heritage, history and heritage is the aim and goal of Modi ji because we are moving very fast towards modernity but we should never forget our roots, our cultural heritage. Shouldn't be forgotten.”

Police said that further investigation in the matter is going on.

Deepfake videos are videos that are substantially altered to misrepresent someone as doing or saying something that was not actually done or said.

The city police recently registered an FIR against an unidentified person in connection with a similar deepfake video of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, where he was allegedly seen promoting a political party.
