MS Dhoni completely mesmerized both fans and experts as the Chennai Super Kings batsman hit Hardik Pandya for three consecutive sixes during the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium witnessed Dhoni's trademark innings, in which the veteran wicketkeeper batsman scored 20 runs in just 4 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 500. At the age of 42, Dhoni has restricted himself to the role of finisher. His franchise and his innings played an important role in taking the total score past 200 runs. However, it seemed that the innings had come at a cost as Dhoni was seen limping with padding around his knee in a video posted on social media.

Dhoni suffered from a knee injury during IPL 2023 and the veteran wicketkeeper batsman underwent surgery right after the competition.

CSK bowling consultant Eric Simmons had earlier said that Dhoni was struggling with his knee injury but he has decided to bat bravely for the sake of the team.

“Everyone is more interested in his injuries than he is in himself. He's one of the toughest guys I've ever met. I don't think we even know to what extent he can or cannot endure pain. He just keeps going and does his job,” Simmons said after CSK's win over MI.

“I'm sure there are some flaws. He has the ability to ignore what he has and do what needs to be done. We're more concerned about his injuries. When I say we, I mean the public (which ) is more concerned about his injuries,” he said.

Talking about the match, despite Rohit Sharma scoring a brilliant century in front of the home crowd, Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 20 runs.
