Former Indian cricket team fast bowler RP Singh gave a big warning to wicketkeeper KS Bharat after his disappointing performance in the first two Test matches of the ongoing five-match series against England. In a recent conversation, Singh said that with Bharat 'hanging the sword' and Rishabh Pant recovering from injuries sustained in a road accident, his place in the playing XI could be in danger. Bharat failed to convert some good starts in the first two Test matches and Singh pointed out that if another keeper comes to the fore, Bharat will have to sit on the bench.
“If we look at the team, there are probably 3 or 4 players in the list who have no sword hanging over them, and no pressure to perform. This is on everyone else, and also on KS India, because the line of players is very long. Rishabh Pant will come now, but he will have a fitness test and then he will play some domestic cricket,” RP Singh told Cricbuzz.
“KS Bharat is currently part of the Indian team; It should be understood that if the selectors or the management see another keeper who has the potential, then it will not take even a moment for KS Bharat to sit on the bench.
RP Singh was also not a fan of Bharat's wicket-keeping as he dropped a few catches against England and advised him not to focus on his competition but to work on his role in the team.
“The opportunities that India is getting are very significant. He has also made mistakes and dropped catches and is unable to maintain the pace of the ball while keeping. It is not that KS Bharat has not performed, but to repeat the same performance he should do a little planning and talk to the support staff a little. They should not think that if another player comes then they will be out. Your role in the team is very big, your role should be such that you contribute to the team winning the match. KS Bharat is disappointing us.”
