“Doctors Even Spoke About Amputation”: Rishabh Pant Recalls Horrific Car Crash

After recovering from a fatal car accident in December 2022, India star and Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant revealed how worse the accident could have been. Pant said that doctors were also considering amputation. Pant suffered serious injury to his right knee in the accident which required ligament reconstruction surgery in addition to wrist and ankle fractures. But he has come back and performed well. The BCCI on Tuesday declared Pant fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), boosting his chances of a national comeback in the T20 World Cup after suffering multiple injuries in a tragic car accident 14 months ago. Became bright.

“If you're spiritual you become more disciplined. It's a personal choice. It helped me focus on myself. When I had an accident, I felt something spiritual saved me. Whatever happened to me Kind of an accident, it only hurt my knee but I can't even imagine how bad it could have been. The doctors even talked about amputating my leg. I always thought about God. It gave me a Has given a different perspective. I know someone is keeping an eye on me,” Pant told The Times of India.

Pant, who will once again return as DC captain, has undergone extensive rehabilitation and is set to take up the dual duties in the event starting on March 22, ending weeks of speculation over his exact role in the league. Speculation will end.

A few weeks ago, in a conversation with Star Sports, Pant had told his doctor that he would be at least six months off from his recovery timeline.

The National Cricket Academy had declared him fit a week ago after passing all the fitness tests related to his 'Return to Play' (RTP).

It was revealed that he batted for a longer period in the match simulation conducted by NCA and more importantly, he also kept wickets for a longer period.

There was speculation that he might play only as an 'impact player' or batsman, but one of India's biggest match-winners in the last six years has managed to get back into shape to play at full strength.

Pant's wicketkeeping also means that if he can play some impressive innings during the IPL season, he will have a good chance of playing the T20 World Cup.

Pant was present at the Capitals table during the IPL auction last year and has been working on his fitness at the NCA after recovering from injuries sustained in the unfortunate incident.
