New Delhi:

Months ago Anurag Kashyap had made headlines by making a big statement. Animal Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. While Ranbir Kapoor's film has been criticized by many for being “misogynistic”, Anurag praised Sandeep in his extensive note. Now, in a new episode of his daughter Alia Kashyap's podcast Young, dumb and worried, Anurag was asked, “What was Sandeep Reddy Vanga's post about?” Justifying himself, Anurag Kashyap said, “I met him, I like him.” I like that boy. I had some questions of my own and wanted to talk to him about his film (Animal, I invited him over and I had a five-hour long conversation and I liked the guy.

Responding to her father's statement, Alia Kashyap said, “Yes, so I understand you are allowed to like a boy. The problem I and I think many other people had was the caption of the post, where you promoted him as a person and a movie and talked about that which I wasn't very happy with because I actually watched Animal And called you right after and talked about what a terribly misogynistic movie it was and how much I hated it. And you agreed with me and then a week later I opened up Instagram and I saw a post from my dad promoting a guy I was very upset about.”

On this Anurag Kashyap said, “No, but it is so… I have always believed in talking to people. So you were very young when your father was canceled like this. after Dev D (2009)…after all my films. I was considered untouchable. I should have been that person that everyone said, 'is unfortunate, Don't make a film with him. Whatever he touches does not go away.' after this i was canceled Dev D Many people said that this was a 'misogynistic thing'…after this the same thing happened Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). Even though my characters had agencies, everything was still the same. So, what happens is that I have often seen people isolating someone, attacking someone and that is not the way to do it.

Anurag Kashyap said, “I don't understand social media but before social media there were blogs and I was a blogger. And I used to do the same thing against the entire industry. Because I felt that the entire industry was my enemy. I was very tough and angry and stuff like that. I always keep talking about Karan Johar in anger. I will talk about other people in the industry. After this I remembered a post Dabangg (2010) And I had a fight with Salman Khan… not exactly a fight, but I started speaking against him. So I also got very angry. I too became isolated like this, without people understanding me. Over time, people started seeing things differently. I don't like this cancel culture at all.

He further said, 'If I have any problem with a film, I will talk to that person. I will ask him my questions myself. You know how many people we look up to or think they're feminists and they're activists. More than 50 percent of these are asanas. They are not real at all. This guy (Sandeep Reddy Vanga), he is what you see. people may like Animalthey may not like it AnimalBut Animal There is a huge tectonic shift in the way films are made. People will understand its impact in 5-10 years from now. Post Animal, Every action movie looks fake. when you see, big mian small mian (starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff), all those flips and fights, it all feels fake because somehow there is action in that movie (Animal) and the use of music in that film had an impact, the technical details in the film had an impact on the audience. Its impact will always be on cinema. Anyone can have questions from a storytelling point of view, from a character point of view. But I would love to talk to that person.

Anurag Kashyap wrote in his post about Sandeep Reddy Vanga: “Had a wonderful evening with Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The most misunderstood, criticized and most criticized filmmaker at the moment. For me, He is the most honest, vulnerable and sweet human being.” And I don't really care what anyone thinks about him or his movie. I wanted to meet the guy and I had questions and he answered whatever I asked him about his movie, which I actually watched twice.”
