New Delhi: The 2024 Indian Premier League has revolutionized T20 cricket, with many records broken throughout the tournament. During the match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, the highest number of sixes were hit so far in a single IPL edition in the current season.
A total of 20 sixes were hit in the game, taking the total number of sixes in the season to 1,125, surpassing the previous record of 1,124 hit in the 2022 season. There are still some matches left, this number is expected to increase further.

The increasing trend of hitting sixes in the last three seasons highlights the increasing dominance of the batsmen in this format.

Apart from the record of hitting sixes, many other achievements have been achieved in the current IPL season. Punjab Kings chased down the mammoth target of 262 runs set by Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, which is the highest successful target in T20 cricket history.
A record-breaking 42 sixes were also hit in the match, which is the highest number of sixes hit so far in a T20 game. Before Punjab Kings' incredible feat, Kolkata Knight Riders had posted the highest score of 261/6 at Eden Gardens in the T20 format.

Sunrisers Hyderabad also made their mark by posting the highest IPL score of 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, having broken the record earlier in the season with a score of 277/3 against Mumbai Indians.
