Election campaign ends in Pakistan following ECP advisory

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was taken to Larkana, the home of the Bhutto political dynasty, on the last day of the campaign, while Pakistan Muslim League (n) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif Chose Kasur, the constituency of his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif, to end his political campaign on a high.
According to Dawn, Sharif was also scheduled to speak at a rally in Lahore, but it was cancelled.
However, the situation was different for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). On one hand the party was deprived of its iconic election symbol 'Balla', on the other hand the party founder was also deprived of it. Imran Khan He is in jail facing many charges.
In a statement, the electoral body asked all candidates and their parties to comply with Section 182 of the Election Act. Section 182 states that no person is allowed to participate in any public meeting, procession, street meeting or any such political activity after Tuesday night.
“Legal action will be taken against any person violating the above mentioned provision of law. After the commencement of the pre-poll silence period, election campaigns, advertisements and other written materials on electronic and print media in support of or against any particular political party Or the candidate was not allowed,” the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said.
The law also prohibits election surveys in the media until the election process is complete. However, according to Dawn, the watchdog allowed the media to broadcast the election results an hour after voting ended, but with a clear indication that these results were inconclusive and unofficial.
