Premier League strugglers Everton revealed a loss of 89.1 million pounds ($112 million) for the 2022-23 season in its latest financial accounts on Sunday. Everton's losses increased significantly from the 2021–22 season, when their accounts showed a deficit of £44.7 million. The Goodison Park club has cited the indefinite suspension of sponsorship deals with major commercial partners as mitigation for the increased losses. Everton's latest accounts, which also show huge investment in the club's new stadium, come at a time when their finances are under scrutiny.

The Toffees are due to be sentenced on a second charge of breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules before April 8.

They could be deducted one more point in addition to the six points already lost for violations related to the 2021-22 season.

Under PSR rules, clubs can lose a maximum of £105 million over a three-season period or £35 million per campaign before facing sanctions.

Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League table, having lost 2-1 at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Sean Dyche's side are just three points above the relegation zone with nine games left.

Under fire, majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri said earlier this week he was confident a long-term takeover of the club by 777 Partners would be completed soon.
