Ex-Mumbai Indians All-Rounder Fabian Allen Attacked, Robbed At Gunpoint

The playoff stage of the ongoing SA20 league has begun and four out of six teams have made it to the knockouts. Durban Super Giants and Sunrisers Eastern Cape will face each other in the Qualifier 1 match on Tuesday while Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings will face each other in the Eliminator on Wednesday. However, on the eve of the first playoff game, a shocking incident occurred that raised concerns over the safety of players in the South African league.

West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen was attacked and robbed at gunpoint outside the Paarl Royals team hotel in Johannesburg, reports Cricbuzz.

It was also said that the 28-year-old all-rounder was attacked by gun-armed assailants near the famous Sandton Sun Hotel. Allen's personal belongings including his phone and bag were also forcibly taken away.

“Our head coach Andre Collie, who is also a Jamaican, contacted Fabian. Contact was successfully established through Obed McCoy (another West Indies international). He is fine. CSA (Cricket South Africa) And their team, Paarl Royals, can share more details if any,” a top CWI official told Cricbuzz.

The Royals won five matches in the group stage of the SA20 2023–24 and finished third on the points table.

Talking about Allen, the Caribbean star has played 20 ODI and 34 T20 matches and scored 200 and 267 runs respectively. He also took seven wickets in ODIs and 24 wickets in T20Is.
