“Fit Enough To Practice But Not Domestic Cricket”: Irfan Pathan’s ‘Perplexing’ Dig. Fans Say It’s For Ishan Kishan

Feb 10, 2024

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has been out of the team since he withdrew from the Indian team for the South Africa tour in December 2023 citing fatigue. Ishan last played for India in the T20I format in December 2023 against Australia in Guwahati. Ishan was not considered for the ongoing Test series against England, following which India head coach Rahul Dravid clarified that the player is not yet done. Available for self selection after asking for breaks.

The player has recently shared a video of his training on social media. This player is also absent from the Jharkhand team for the current round of Ranji Trophy.

On Saturday, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan shared a cryptic post. Pathan was surprised that “someone can be fit enough to practice but not play domestic cricket”.

Although Pathan did not mention anyone's name, fans speculated that his post was directed towards Kishan.

Pathan posted on Twitter: “It's baffling how someone can be fit to practice but not play domestic cricket. What does this mean?”

Here's how the Internet reacted:

Earlier, former India batsman Aakash Chopra had said that Kishan cannot be selected for Team India as he is not playing any kind of cricket.

“What Rahul has said is absolutely right. Rahul Dravid has said that firstly he needs to be available and secondly, he needs to play some cricket, because if he is not playing any cricket then he will not be selected for India. Could have happened. If that had happened in the June-July period, it would have been acceptable,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra further said that Kishan should have played in the current Ranji season to show his availability.

“However, at the moment Ranji Trophy is happening, so if first-class cricket is happening, he will have to play there to show his availability. In fact, he has not even picked up the phone and told anyone that he is available. Are.” ” He added.
