New Delhi: Former Sri Lankan cricketer lahiru thirimane He was admitted to hospital in Thrippen, Anuradapura, with minor injuries following a road accident, local media reported on Thursday.
According to a report by 'Ada Derana', 34-year-old Thirimane was admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital “with minor injuries sustained in the accident”.
Anuradapura is a major city, located about 205 km from the national capital Colombo.
“Police have mentioned that the car in which Thirimane was travelling, collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction at around 07.45 am today,” it said.
“Three other persons traveling in the car, the driver of the lorry and another person have been injured and have been admitted to hospital.”
Thirimane scored 2088 runs in 44 Test matches for Sri Lanka, which included three centuries.
He played 127 ODI matches for the island nation, scoring a total of 3164 runs. He also played 26 T20 international matches for Sri Lanka.
Thirimane last played for Sri Lanka in 2022 before announcing his retirement next year.
