‘Free Palestine’: Protesters calling for cease-fire in Gaza interrupt Easter Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Before the start of Holy Week, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a statement asking for prayers for peace in the Middle East and an end to the Israel–Hamas conflict.
“As the Church enters Holy Week and the suffering of Christ on the cross and his resurrection are presented to us so clearly, we are connected to the source of hope,” the statement said.
Saturday also saw a large crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters in London, demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and increased aid to the war-torn region. Organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the event began at Russell Square in the city centre, followed by a march to Trafalgar Square for an afternoon rally.
Retired social worker Sally Vorgan, 65, had traveled from Gloucestershire in western England to attend.
“I think it's important for Palestinians to know that people support them, that they're not just on their own,” retired social worker Sally Vorgan, 65, told AFP news agency.
On Sunday, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 32,782 Palestinians have been killed and 75,298 injured in Israeli military attacks on Gaza since the conflict began on October 7.
