The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the squad for the remaining three Test matches of the five-match series against England. Following the squad announcement, India's out-of-favour pacer Umesh Yadav put up a cryptic post on his Instagram story and fans wasted no time in linking it to the bowler being overlooked for the England Test. Making changes to the fast bowling line-up, India included Akash Deep, marking the fast bowler's inclusion in the Test squad for the first time. Meanwhile, Umesh remained out of consideration. He last played for India in June 2023, which was a Test match against Australia at The Oval.

One of the worst team management at the moment, Umesh really deserves a place in the team#Umeshyadav https://t.co/WoWqC4L3Gi

Star batsman Virat Kohli will not play in the remaining matches against England due to personal reasons. Before this he could not play in the first two tests. Now, his absence has been extended to three more games. His last appearance came in the T20I series against Afghanistan in early January.
“Virat Kohli will not be available for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli's decision,” a BCCI statement said.
Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar are also part of the England series. BCCI said that the participation of batsman KL Rahul and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja depends on their fitness.
Mohammed Shami, who missed the first two Tests due to injury, is still sitting out. Fast bowler Akash Deep has also been included in the team.
The third Test will start on February 15 in Rajkot while the fourth Test will start on February 23 in Ranchi. The fifth and final Test of the series will be played in Dharamshala from March 7. The series is currently level at 1-1. After losing the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs, India won the second Test in Visakhapatnam by 106 runs.
