IIT JEE Main 2024: 8 Tips To Create A Perfect Study Schedule

Mar22,2024

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is globally acclaimed as one of the most challenging entrance examinations. It is an examination in India that students take to gain admission into undergraduate engineering and architecture programs in prestigious colleges including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
IIT-JEE preparation is famous for being tough, but a recently viral picture showing the intense daily schedule of a candidate has garnered a lot of attention on social media.
As per his usual schedule, the 17-year-old student spends most of his day studying. He wakes up at 4:30 in the morning and goes to bed at midnight, getting only five hours of sleep each night.
The timetable immediately went viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Some were surprised by how much the student studied, while others considered it normal and praised the student's hard work. But then, a former JEE topper joined the conversation with a different opinion.
Kalpit VeerwalA man who scored perfect marks in the first part of the entrance exam (JEE Main) in 2017 revealed that he had studied only half as much as the aspirant in question. “I literally scored full marks in JEE Main 2017 (AIR 1) and didn't study half as hard as I did,” he wrote on X.

Another X user Ankish, who claimed to have cracked the IIT JEE entrance exam, dismissed the viral post as “exaggerated”. I prepared and qualified, but I could not be productive for more than 6-8 hours a day. 14 hours is an exaggeration,” he shared.

8 Tips for Creating a Perfect Study Schedule For iit jee main

  • know yourself: Before creating a study schedule, take some time to understand what you are good at and what challenges you face. Being aware of your strengths and weaknesses will make your schedule more realistic and achievable.

  • work with your strengths: Organize your study sessions to suit your peak performance time. For example, if you are most alert in the morning, tackle difficult subjects like physics or math first thing in the morning. This way, you can give your best attention to tricky topics.

  • Manage your time wisely: Divide your study time effectively between Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Spend more time on subjects you find difficult, but balance them with subjects you are more comfortable with to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • set clear goals: Instead of vague goals like “study chemistry,” set specific daily goals such as completing a certain chapter and solving a set number of practice problems.

  • Review regularly: Schedule regular revision sessions throughout the week to strengthen your understanding and keep the concepts fresh in your mind. Don't leave it to the last minute to cram everything in.

  • Take a break:Breaks are important! Include short breaks between study sessions to refresh your mind and improve your focus. Use this time to walk around, stretch, or grab a snack.

  • Practice with Mock Tests: Include regular mock tests in your schedule to simulate exam conditions. Analyze your performance later to pinpoint areas for improvement and improve your exam strategy.

  • be flexible: Be prepared to adjust your schedule for unexpected events. The important thing is to remain consistent in your overall effort.
