Imran Tahir Becomes Fourth Player Ever To Claim 500 wickets In T20 Cricket

Veteran South African spinner Imran Tahir completed 500 wickets in the T20 format and became the fourth player to achieve the remarkable feat. The 44-year-old player achieved this feat during the match between Rangpur Riders and Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He played a key role in Rangpur's victory with figures of 5/26 in his four-over spell. With this five-wicket haul, he joined the elite company of Dwayne Bravo, Rashid Khan and Sunil Narine. Former West Indies captain DJ Bravo leads the T20 format with 624 wickets in 571 matches. Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan has taken 556 wickets in 410 matches and West Indies' mystery spinner Sunil Narine is at third place with 532 wickets.

Talking about the match, Rangpur captain Nurul Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first at the Zahoor Ahmed Chaudhary Stadium.

After Luke Wood dismissed both the openers in the space of four overs, Shakib Al Hasan fought bravely and scored a blistering 69 runs. He made an important partnership of 109 runs with Mahedi Hasan (60) and took the score to 219/5.

In the end, the explosive innings of captain Hasan (32 off 13 balls) played an important role in making the huge score of 220.

Chasing the target, Khulna were bowled out for 141 runs as Tahir rotated the opening order. He dismissed set batsman Alex Hales (60) along with captain Anamul Haq (5), Afif Hussain (11), Habibur Rehman (13) and Akbar Ali (0).

His courageous effort with the ball helped Rangpur win by 78 runs. They currently top the table with 14 points from nine games. Khulna Tigers, on the other hand, are at fifth position with eight points.
