IPL 2024: Mustafizur Rahman’s change of pace makes him world class, says Dinesh Karthik | Cricket News

CHENNAI: Despite being pulled off the field in Chittagong last week, Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman Was full of energy and gave a brilliant performance to help Chennai Super Kings win by six wickets. Royal Challengers Bangalore Here on Friday.
In the span of just 10 balls, Mustafizur, aka Fizz, demolished the RCB top-order and completely changed the pace of the game by capturing four vital wickets – Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green. Changed.
On Friday night, the left-arm medium pacer had more variations in his pace than an artist's colours. Furthermore, his leg-cutter and flexible wrist action resembled precise brushstrokes. And, the Chepauk wicket became the perfect canvas for Fizz to showcase his masterpiece. Two cleverly designed legcutters on the right length took the wickets of Plessis and Green.

A slower ball sent Kohli packing, while a wobbly seam delivery betrayed Rajat.
Dinesh KarthikHe remained unbeaten to take RCB to a good score, adding that Fizz's modification of pace makes it difficult for the batsmen to face him.
“It (Chepauk) is a very good pitch. This is not the usual slow turn-up pitch that we were probably imagining in our minds. Here the ball skidded a little too much. It was good for batting. And he (Fizz) bowled brilliantly. And he bowled the ball on the right length. His slow ball turned out to be good.
“What makes it really difficult is the fact that he can bowl at 138-139 kmph and then he has his slow pace, which is very confusing. He bowls at a speed of 120-125 kmph, which makes him really difficult to bowl. So that's what's so special about him. And he is a world-class bowler,” DK said after the match.

The absence of CSK's designated death bowler Mathisha Pathirana opened the doors for Fizz in the playing eleven. And, the 28-year-old, who was bought by CSK in the auction last year for his base price of Rs 2 crore, made the most of the opportunity.
CSK bowling consultant Eric Simmons said Fizz followed the plan effortlessly.
“I think we (XI) will always look at the circumstances, look at the balance to take decisions. I think it's important to have someone who does something different. We just felt he (Fiz) suited the conditions, but again, it was the simplicity of the plan that we implemented, and he executed beautifully today (Friday),” Simmons said.
