Delhi Capitals registered their first win of IPL 2024 after defeating Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs in Visakhapatnam. Batting first, DC scored a mammoth 191/5 in 20 overs with the help of half-centuries from David Warner and Rishabh Pant. Later, despite MS Dhoni's explosive performance of 37 runs in 16 balls, DC restricted CSK to 171/6. It was a sight for all Dhoni fans around the world as he hit four fours and three sixes but it all went in vain as CSK lost.

With their first defeat of the season, CSK have slipped to second place on the points table with two wins from three matches and a net run-rate of +0.976, leaving Kolkata Knight Riders at the top spot with two wins from two. Match and Net Run Rate +1.047.

Earlier in the day, Gujarat Titans registered their second win of the season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets.

DC, on the other hand, have moved up to seventh place with one win from three matches and a net run-rate of -0.016.

Talking about the match, Rishabh Pant led from the front with his first IPL half-century since returning from a scary car accident as Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs on Sunday.

Captain Pant scored 51 off 32 balls after fellow left-hander David Warner made 52 and helped Delhi reach 191-5 in Visakhapatnam – the adopted home ground for the Capitals due to the upcoming general elections.

But the fans in the south Indian city represented Chennai in a big way and he (MS Dhoni) chanted “Dhoni, Dhoni” – as the former skipper scored an unbeaten 37 off 16 balls, which included four fours and three sixes.

Delhi restricted Chennai to 171-6 for their first win of the season and their opponents suffered a defeat after two early wins.

While bowling, Khalil Ahmed took 2 wickets for 21 runs and Mukesh Kumar took three wickets.
