Speaking on Star Sports Cricket Live, the former West Indies cricketer said, “Yes, it's a battle, but you know, well, these are some stats you can take out. I mean, there was a time when he Could have failed, but this guy is in great form and I mean, if he's willing to bow out and say, OK, I'll have a rematch with you later.”
“But I believe the confidence he has, whether it's left-arm spin or left-arm pace, whatever you call it, I think he will leave the slower balls for most of the battles “And when you really have to put speed on the ball, it's always tough where you can carve it in different directions,” he said.
The West Indies player also highlighted the expectation of an interesting match with Suryakumar and suggested that this is something to keep an eye on.
After a long absence due to an ankle injury and sports hernia surgery, Suryakumar Rejoined the Mumbai team for the match against Delhi Capitals but was out for a duck. Suryakumar could not play in the first three matches for MI.
However, the batsman was back to his best in the subsequent match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made the record of MI's second fastest half-century by scoring 52 runs in 19 balls.
Following the 33-year-old hitter's return from a lengthy injury layoff, Lara was amazed by his performance and said that he has never seen such shots from someone who is returning from injury.
“But what I saw in Suryakumar Yadav a few days ago is he is very talented. I think, I have not seen such shots from a guy who is just coming back from injury, attacking in the first half, or less “Zero in the last game,” Lara said. And I think whatever fight happens, it will be with Suryakumar Yadav.”
