Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan is away from the Indian team, with players like KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel competing for a place behind the stumps in the first two Tests against England. Kishan had sought rest from the team management during the South Africa tour and has not returned to the field since then. When India head coach Rahul Dravid was asked about Kishan's return, he made it clear that the wicketkeeper batsman will have to play some form of cricket to be eligible for selection.
While Kishan has decided to stay away from the Ranji Trophy despite a clear message from Dravid and the team, a report has claimed that he has been training with Hardik and Krunal Pandya at the Reliance Stadium for the last few weeks.
“Whenever he is ready, I didn't say he has to play domestic cricket; I said whenever he is ready… he has to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We don't want him to do anything.” “We are in touch with them,” Dravid said in the post-match press conference after the conclusion of the second Test in Vizag.
A report in Cricbuzz claims that Ishan has been training with the Pandya brothers at the Reliance Stadium in Baroda for the last few weeks.
Kishan's actions arouse curiosity because Hardik Pandya is the captain of the Mumbai Indians franchise, the team for which Kishan also plays.
According to former Indian cricketer Kiran More, Kishan is training in his academy.
Kishan has not played for the Indian team in any of the three formats since November last year, but was on the bench for a few other games.
However, the talented wicket-keeper batsman has shown no inclination towards playing competitive cricket like Ranji Trophy, while Dravid had suggested that he needs the player to play some form of cricket so that the selectors can pick him for the national team.
The BCCI is all set to announce the squad for the remaining three Test matches against England, but it is not yet clear whether Ishan will be considered for selection or not.
