Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Chhattisgarh: Schools and colleges will remain closed on these days


New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (EC) on March 16 announced the schedule of voting and result declaration of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The election process will run in 7 phases, starting from April 19 and ending on June 1.
The first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 is to be held on April 19. Yesterday was the last day of campaign efforts by political parties with both BJP and Congress holding their rallies ahead of the first phase of voting.
There are total 545 seats in Lok Sabha. Of these, voting will be held on 543 seats.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Chhattisgarh

Voting in Chhattisgarh will be held from April 19 to May 7. The elections are scheduled to be held in three phases on 19 April, 26 April and 7 May, designated as Phase 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The results of 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be declared on June 4.
Why will schools be closed on election day?
The closure of schools and colleges allows teachers and staff who are eligible voters the time and opportunity to cast their ballots without the constraints of work or classes. Many schools and colleges serve as polling places during elections. Closing them on election days helps facilitate the voting process by providing adequate space for polling stations, ensuring security and managing the influx of voters without disruption to normal academic activities.
