Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Telangana: Schools and colleges will remain closed on this date


On 16 March, the Election Commission of India (EC) announced the voting and result declaration dates for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The elections will be held in 7 phases, starting from April 19 and ending on June 1. The total number of constituencies to be contested is 543. However, parliamentary elections for 17 seats in Telangana will be fought in a single phase. On 13 May. The results of Telangana Lok Sabha elections will be declared by 4 June.
Why are educational institutions closed?
On election days, schools and colleges located in the polling district facilitate the setting up of polling stations and ensure smooth voting process. In areas with high security concerns, these institutions may close several days in advance to protect the environment for safe and peaceful elections.

The Indian general election of 2019 was held on 11 April 2019 along with Telangana to form the 17th Lok Sabha. Bharatiya Janata Party won 4 seats, Bharat Rashtra Samithi won 9 seats, Indian National Congress won 3 seats and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen won 1 seat.
