You bowled brilliantly in your first IPL match and won man of the match…
I am really happy with my performance. My captain KL Bhai came and told me that I will play. I was very happy. I just stayed calm and decided to give my best and apply whatever I have learned so far. I was associated with LSG for the last three years. I used to prepare with the team. I didn't get a chance in the first year. I got injured in the second year. This is my third year with the team and I have got the opportunity.
What kind of support did you get from captain KL Rahul?
KL Bhaiya told me just one thing and he keeps saying that the simpler you keep things, the better it will be for you. I follow his advice and it really works. He said that my plus point and major weapon is speed and I have to keep supporting it and work on it. Since pace is my strength, he said if you are getting beaten or leaking runs then don't think too much, just keep supporting your pace which is your strength. When he came to my room he said there will be pressure because it is your first match, so don't think about that, just go and bowl like you were.
How do you generate momentum?
It's natural in me. I have improved my bowling over the years but I can generate pace easily. I don't have to work very hard to generate speed.

are a product of you Sonnet Cricket Club Which has given birth to stars like Ashish Nehra, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Anjum Chopra, Raman Lamba and many more…
Taarak Sinha sir has played a big role in my career. I was 14 years old when I went to summer camp at Sonnett. Tarak sir told me to go and bowl. Devendra sir was also there. When Tarak sir saw my bowling, he came and said, 'You practice here from tomorrow.' After a week, Tarak sir was sitting behind the nets where I was bowling. He was keeping a close eye on me. He was impressed by my speed. I was the fastest in that age group. They gave me a chance to play some matches against some big teams. I did really well there. Then Tarak sir used to call me for almost every match. He has guided me a lot.
Who is your inspiration and why?
I take inspiration from Dale Steyn. I like the way he shows aggression with his bowling. He can scare any batsman with his speed. Stan is my idol. I never met him. I really want to meet him someday. That day will be like a dream come true for me. I watch videos of Steyn's bowling and his best spells and learn from them.
Do you want to become the fastest bowler in the world?
I never wanted to be the fastest bowler in the world. I had never even dreamed of it. I don't want to be the fastest bowler in the world. I just want to be the best bowler in the world. I just want to give less runs and maintain consistency in my performance. Pace is a plus point for me. There are other things too like line, length and where to hit the ball. Just speed back up those areas.

You are close to India's senior fast bowler Ishant Sharma Very…
Ishant bhaiya has helped me a lot. We both are from the same state and same team. He has been very kind and helpful to me. For me, he is just a call away for any kind of help. Ishant bhaiya has given me a lot of tips about staying fit, staying physically and mentally fresh during the season. He has helped me a lot, especially in the last three years.
What was the strategy against Punjab Kings?
The strategy was to take advantage of the longer stretches of the field. The leg side presented a bigger target from my bowling position. I opted not to bowl towards the off side, believing that given any space the batsman would easily send the ball to the boundary. My aim was to bowl short and target the batsman's body. Both Bairstow and Jitesh tried to create space and play their shots, but my strategy proved effective against them.
