Veteran actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning. Now the hospital has issued an official statement regarding the health of The Kashmir Files actor. Mithun Chakraborty has been diagnosed with ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke).

The statement mentioned that the actor was brought to the hospital complaining of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. At present he is undergoing necessary treatment and is under the supervision of a team of doctors.

The official statement said, “National Award winning actor Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73) was brought to the emergency department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospital, Kolkata at 9.40 am complaining of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and brain Radiology investigations including MRI were conducted. He has been diagnosed with ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, functioning well and taking a soft diet. Further details of Mr. Chakraborty “The evaluation is being done by a team of doctors including a neuro-physician, cardiologist and a gastroenterologist.”

Mithun Chakraborty was recently named as the recipient of the Padma Bhushan award 2024. The actor, fondly called Mithun Da by his fans, started his career with the film Mrigaya directed by Mrinal Sen, which earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Disco Dancer, Agneepath, Ghar Ek Mandir, Jallad and Pyaar Jhukta Nahi are some of his other popular films.

Mithun Chakraborty joined the BJP party in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the historic Brigade Parade Ground, commonly known as the Maidan, in Kolkata on March 7, 2021.
