Not Mayank Yadav, LSG Coach Celebrates This Youngster For Scalping Virat Kohli. Watch

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer has revealed how young left-arm spinner M Siddharth fulfilled his promise – to dismiss Virat Kohli. Siddharth made his second appearance for LSG on Tuesday and dismissed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman Kohli for his first IPL wicket. Siddharth, after bowling some fast bowling to him, decided Kohli's downfall by bowling a slow ball. Kohli tried to flick the ball but got a leading edge, which went straight to the fielder at point.

After the match, Langer revealed his first conversation with Siddharth, who promised to get Kohli out.

“I had never spoken to him before… I had seen him bowl arm balls. The first thing that came out of my mouth after meeting M Siddharth was 'Hey Sid! Do you think you can get Virat out for us? Can?' He says, 'Yes sir!'. And what did he do? He threw him out,” Langer said in a video uploaded by LSG.

The unheard story of Langer's conversation with Siddharth was given a warm welcome in the LSG camp.

There are 10 bowlers who have given Virat his first IPL wicket, which include Ashok Dinda, Ashish Nehra, Albie Morkel, Chetanya Nanda, Doug Bracewell, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan, Harpreet Brar, Dewald Brewis and now Siddharth.

Talking about the match, RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first. Opener Quinton de Kock and captain KL Rahul (20 off 14 balls, with two sixes) gave LSG a solid start with an opening partnership of 53 runs. A 56-run partnership between Cock and Marcus Stoinis (24 off 15 balls, with one four and two sixes) helped LSG cross the 100-run mark. RCB's bowlers put the pressure on the batting in the end, but Nicholas Pooran (40* off 21 balls, with one four and five sixes) did well for LSG, helping them to 181/5 in 20 overs.

Glenn Maxwell (2/23) was the best bowler for RCB. Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal and Reece Topley took one wicket each for RCB.

In the run chase, openers Virat Kohli (22 runs in 16 balls with the help of two fours and a six) and Faf du Plessis (19 runs in 13 balls with the help of three fours) started with a partnership of 40 runs. But a game-changing spell from Mayank Yadav (3/14) put RCB on the backfoot, reducing their score to 94/5. Mahipal Lomror (33 runs in 13 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes) and Rajat Patidar (29 runs in 21 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes) tried to fight, but RCB managed only 153 runs in 19.4 overs. Could only make it.

Apart from Mayank, Naveen-ul-Haq (2/25) was the bowler of choice for LSG. Siddharth, Yash Thakur and Stoinis got one wicket each.

Mayank received 'Player of the Match' for his spell. RCB are in ninth place with one win and two losses, giving them three points. LSG are in fourth place with two wins and one loss, giving them four points.
