Pakistan: 8 children among 10 dead in two days as rain batters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Ten people died and twelve were injured rain related incidents In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two days, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Sunday, The Nation reported.
PDMA spokesperson Anwar Shahzad confirmed the casualties and said the dead included eight children and two women while the injured included nine children, two women and one man.
The spokesperson said that as per reports received till Saturday night, 27 houses were damaged in rain and hailstorm-related incidents in KP. According to The Nation, he said that relief operations are underway in the affected areas.
A brief report issued by the PDMA at 11:30 pm on Saturday said casualties were reported in various incidents of roof and house collapse in Shangla, Bannu, Bajaur, Peshawar, Nowshera and Mansehra.
According to The Nation, the report said, “Three houses were completely damaged in the above areas as well as Mohmand, Mardan, North Waziristan, Swat and Upper Dir, while 24 were partially damaged.”
Speaking to the media, Harban Tehsil Chairman Asadullah Qureshi said that 19 cattle died while 15 cattle enclosures were washed away in incidents of flash flood caused by the rains.
It has been raining heavily in the state since Friday.
On Saturday night, heavy rain coupled with hailstorm hit various areas, causing loss of livestock and damage to several houses, including a cattle shed in Harban area of ​​Upper Kohistan.
