Royal Challengers Bangalore as a franchise ended their arduous wait to taste success in franchise cricket as the Smriti Mandhana-led side clinched the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 title by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final on Sunday. . RCB's title win sent a wave of joy across the city and fans took to the streets to celebrate this historic victory. Chants of “RCB, RCB” could be heard across the city as the franchise finally managed to add a trophy to its cabinet.

Since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, RCB had never won the title. But, in their second WPL campaign, the franchise's women's team lifted the elusive trophy.

After winning the first WPL title, RCB off-spinner Shreyanka Patil dedicated this victory to the fans.

Led by another solid innings from Ellyse Perry and brilliant bowling from spinners Shreyanka Patil and Sophie Molineux, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to win their maiden Women's Premier League (WPL) title. The title clash will be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

Following her exploits, Shreyanka received the Purple Cap for taking most wickets by a player in the tournament. He has taken 13 wickets in eight matches at an average of 12.07, with his best bowling performance being 4/12. The youngster also won the Emerging Player of the Season award for his stellar performances throughout the tournament.

The 21-year-old player said that our team has worked really hard to win the title this season. He further talked about team bonding activities.

“You can call us that, we don't mind. We worked really hard, we had a camp before we played the season. It was amazing to have contact with everyone and we had amazing team bonding sessions, some plays, Some dancing and some laughter. They kept saying “Ee Saala Cup Namde” and we got it. That's it, guys, it's for the fans,” Shreyanka said after winning her maiden WPL title.

Shreyanka further said that our team wanted to win the final because the team wanted to show the fans that we too can do the same.

“Day and night we worked hard and we showed, we wanted to win this game and show the fans that we can do it. We felt like family, we didn't know Luke much, the last game we Won against Mumbai, he was in tears and we want to continue that. We are not going to abandon him, he has to dance,” said the off-spinner.
