Franchise co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed Pant's role for this season, saying that the young star will lead the DC franchise from the first match.

At present, wicketkeeping seems to be the only obstacle for Pant, because this 26 year old player is not completely fit to bat as well as keep wickets for 20 overs. Therefore, the team is planning to use him only as a pure batsman this season. But, there are no plans to make David Warner the captain for the next season.
