New Delhi: With hardik pandya The former India batsman is set to lead Mumbai Indians in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League Sanjay Manjrekar feels Rohit Sharma It will be 'a little uncomfortable' to play under the all-rounder.
In a surprise move in December last year, Mumbai Indians replaced the hugely successful Rohit with Hardik, who led the franchise to five IPL titles.
Hardik returned to his former franchise MI from Gujarat Titans in November.
Although the franchise took the decision keeping the change in mind, Rohit's removal as captain did not go down well with some.
Given the swagger that Hardik brings with him, Manjrekar feels it will be entertaining to play under the flamboyant all-rounder like Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav.
“It's going to be difficult. Hardik Pandya is a guy who has a bit of swag. He will take that to the Mumbai Indians dressing room as well. And it will be a bit uncomfortable (a bit uncomfortable) because Rohit Sharma might have thought He will get one more year as captain. Suryakumar Yadav will also have something similar in his mind that he will be able to lead Mumbai Indians this season. But Hardik Pandya will not let it affect him. This entertaining Will happen,” Manjrekar said on a Star Sports show.
Earlier, former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel had also said that Hardik will be under a lot of pressure while leading Mumbai in the upcoming IPL, but termed his appointment as captain as “a conscious decision” by the franchise.
“There will be a lot of pressure on Hardik. It will be challenging; replacing a five-time title-winning captain and a team that is used to playing a certain way for 10 years. And, this changing of the guard will be challenging.” Parthiv said, for Hardik and the players who are used to playing under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
The 17th edition of the IPL will begin on March 22 with the match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
