Mumbai cricket team won a record 42nd Ranji Trophy on Thursday. The team captained by Ajinkya Rahane won the trophy with a 169-run win over Vidarbha. The fate of the final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium – Mumbai's 48th in the tournament's 90-year history – was sealed when the hosts set a target of 538 runs for the visitors. Vidarbha captain Akshay Wadkar (102) and Harsh Dubey (65) kept Mumbai in check throughout the first session on the last day, after which Vidarbha scored 248 runs for five wickets and needed 290 runs to win.

Ultimately the team was bowled out for 368 runs in this match, with Vidarbha frustrating the host team for a long time in the last two days of play.

After the victory, Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer was seen dancing. He scored an important 95 runs for Mumbai in the final. Iyer suffered back spasms during his 95-run innings and was examined twice by the Mumbai team physio. He did not take the field for Mumbai even on Wednesday.

A report in Times of India claims that Iyer may miss the opening matches of IPL 2024 due to back spasms. In 2023, Iyer required surgery due to the same injury and the recent developments could rule him out of the first few matches of IPL 2024. “It doesn't look good. This is the same back injury which has worsened. It is unlikely that he will take the field on the fifth day of the Ranji Trophy final. “He is at risk of missing the initial IPL matches,” a source told The Times of India in a report.

After the dance video went viral, many social media users asked about her back pain condition.

Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer will seek medical advice after being ruled out of the fifth and final day of the Ranji Trophy final due to a serious back injury.

Iyer, who smashed 95 off 111 balls with the help of 10 fours and three sixes, sought treatment on the field on two separate occasions here on the third day of the final against Vidarbha, spending more than three hours in between.

When asked about Iyer's absence from the field on the final day, a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source said, “Iyer is injured.”

“He will have to seek medical advice for which he is likely to leave on March 16.” After the fourth day's play, a team source had claimed that Iyer had recovered from the problem and would return to the field on the final day, but this did not happen.

Iyer remained inside the confines of the dressing room and in Mumbai training kit, only to be seen for the first time on Thursday when the domestic giants completed a 169-run win for their 42nd title win.
