Selection Process for SSC GD Constable
The selection process for SSC GD Constable consists of four primary stages namely written examination, physical examination stage and finally a medical examination followed by document verification before appointment.
The initial stage of the selection process involves Computer Based Testing (CBT). This examination is conducted electronically and serves to assess the knowledge of the candidates in various subjects, their critical thinking abilities and fundamental mathematical skills. Candidates are presented with 200 questions to complete within a period of 2 hours. CBT is designed to assess the aptitude and preparedness of the candidates for the further stages of the selection process.
After CBT, candidates proceed to Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). These assessments focus on assessing the physical fitness and strength of the candidates. PET consists of a series of physical activities including running, long jump and high jump, which aims to measure the agility and stamina of the candidates. Meanwhile, the PST evaluates specific physical parameters such as height, weight, chest size and vision. It is mandatory for the candidates to successfully complete PET and PST to proceed in the selection process.
On clearing PET and PST, candidates have to undergo intensive medical examination. This examination is important in ensuring that the candidates have the necessary physical health and fitness to serve effectively in the forces. It includes a comprehensive physical examination, blood tests, X-rays and other medical evaluations to ascertain the overall health and fitness level of the candidates. Candidates will have to meet the prescribed medical standards to proceed to the final stage of the selection process.
The final stage of the selection process involves document verification. At this stage, the Commission carefully verifies the authenticity of the original documents of the candidates including educational certificates, special certificates and character certificates. Document verification serves to validate the credentials of the candidates and ensure that they fulfill all the required eligibility criteria. Successful completion of this stage confirms the suitability of the candidates for recruitment as SSC GD Constable.
