MS Dhoni's association with Chennai and IPL team Chennai Super Kings is quite famous and the veteran cricketer enjoys a legendary status among the fans of the franchise. Dhoni has been leading the team since the first IPL season in 2008 and under his leadership, they have won the title a record five times. With rumors that IPL 2024 could be Dhoni's last season in the tournament, fans are flocking to the stadium for his every game and the sound is almost deafening whenever he comes out to bat.

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu described Dhoni as 'God of Chennai' and said that temples will be built in his honor in the near future.

“He is the God of Chennai and I am sure temples of MS Dhoni will be built in Chennai in the coming years,” Rayudu said on Star Sports.

“He is the man who made India enjoy two World Cups and led Chennai to many IPL and Champions League titles. He is a man who shows faith in his players, who has always done the same for the team, the country and CSK.”

“He is a legend and everyone in the crowd celebrates him. They might be thinking that this could be their last game in Chennai,” he said.

With hopes of making the IPL 2024 playoffs, Chennai Super Kings will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 18. With 14 points and a net run rate of +0.528, CSK are currently placed third on the points table and a win over RCB will more or less seal their place in the top 4 of the competition.
