Hyderabad's music scene has long suffered from a lack of platforms dedicated to independent music. Recognizing this, city-based Independent Music Platform (IMP), a social networking music streaming platform stepped in to fill the void. “Our desire to celebrate the independent music culture of Hyderabad inspired us to create IMP-X Festival, which aims to establish a homegrown brand that promotes local talent and delivers a remarkable music experience.” Says Siddharth Bhargava, CEO of IMP.

The first Homegrown Music Festival to be held at Prism and Odem by Prism in Hyderabad on March 16 will feature three stages: Main Stage, Indie Arena and Hip-Hop/Electronica Stage. The festival features over a hundred artistes and 34 multi-genre performances, including iconic groups like Indian Ocean and Agni from the national stage and the city's Nawab Gang, Chowrasta, Damini Bhatla and others.

Siddharth explains that his selection process involved extensive brainstorming to determine the number of stages and styles. “We prioritize artists based on their musical talent, captivating live performances and ability to complement the thematic essence of the festival. While securing headliners was a challenge, the enthusiastic response from renowned bands like Indian Ocean and Agni encouraged us to feature them. Unlike talent agencies that are based on popularity or social media metrics, we focus on curating sets that promise unique and captivating experiences for our audiences.

An All India Enterprise

In an ambitious move, the IMP team aims to make X-Festival a pan-India venture. Siddharth says, “Our mission statement will be unique compared to other festivals, and we will have a lot to offer. Our line-up of artists will change for every edition and every city. The goal will be to spotlight local talent and musicians from that region as I believe local talent is creeping into practically every city, and when we start venturing into other cities we will see interesting pan-India collaborations Are planning to make.

The music festival, starting at noon, will feature a vibrant 'market' with over 20 stalls showcasing products from small and large businesses. Additionally, there will be a designated recreation area, providing recreation areas exclusively for children. This ensures that festival goers of all ages can enjoy the event.
