Universities must continue to be relevant to society, contribute to upliftment, says ex-president Kovind


Pune: Former President, universities must remain relevant to the society and nation and contribute to the upliftment Ram Nath Kovind Said here on Saturday. Kovind said this in the 15th convocation ceremony of Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth In Pimpri.
ISRO Chairman Somnath S and Symbiosis International University Chancellor SB Muzumdar and other dignitaries were present at the event.
He said, “Our universities must always remain relevant to the society and the nation. They must contribute to the upliftment of the society. We must align ourselves with national missions and challenges.”
Kovind said, the central government has launched programs like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India, Make in India, Developing India in 2047 and other initiatives which can take India to the category of advanced countries.
Innovation is the key to success in today's world, he said, adding that the digital revolution is spreading across the globe and technology is completely changing every aspect of life.
“In this rapidly changing landscape, we cannot ignore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Embrace the tools of technological advancement to empower teachers and students, ensuring that our education system is up to the challenges of the future.” Remain dynamic to cope,” the President said.
