UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini says he has no intention to resign

New Delhi: Philip Lazzarinihead of United NationsAgency UNRWA said on Monday that theyno plans To resign“between Blame Staff members' involvement in the Hamas-led attack on Israel on 7 October.
UNRWA, which provides aid to Palestinians in Gaza, has faced funding suspension from several donor countries since the allegations emerged. The agency has launched an investigation and taken action by dismissing the employees accused of participating in the attack.
Earlier the Israeli military said it had discovered tunnels beneath the main headquarters of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees in Gaza City, alleging that Hamas militants had used the area as an electrical supply chamber.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said the agency had no knowledge of the facility being underground, but that the findings deserve an “independent investigation”, which the agency is unable to do due to the ongoing war.
