India captain Rohit Sharma had met former (World Wrestling Entertainment) WWE wrestler The Great Khali in Ahmedabad during the Cricket World Cup last year.
While other Indian players were in Chennai ahead of the start of their campaign against Australia, Rohit was in Ahmedabad. The India captain was to go to the venue for the pre-World Cup captains' meeting. He met The Great Khali at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, which hosted the opening match of the World Cup between England and New Zealand.
Later, Khali also shared an Instagram story in which he was seen tagged 'the biggest cricket fan'.
Talking about India, the team is already struggling with injuries to key players KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja during the ongoing five-match Test series against England. A recent PTI report states that Shreyas Iyer is unlikely to be selected for the last three Test matches after complaining of waist and back stiffness.
On the other hand, star batsman Virat Kohli missed the first two Tests due to personal reasons and is unlikely to be available for the matches in Rajkot and Ranchi.
The selectors are yet to announce the squad for the last three Tests and will do so after getting clarity on Jadeja's fitness.
The all-rounder will have to pass a fitness test conducted at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He missed the Vizag Test due to a hamstring injury while Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps.
Even if both Jadeja and Rahul return to the playing eleven, Iyer's injury could give another chance to Rajat Patidar, who could not make a big impact during his Test debut in Vizag.
On Monday, India bounced back in the five-match series with a 106-run win in Visakhapatnam. England, who are back in Abu Dhabi ahead of the third Test starting February 15 in Rajkot, won the first match of the series by 28 runs.
India will gather in Rajkot on February 11 and England are expected to reach there a day later.
