Royal Challengers Bangalore's star batsman Virat Kohli achieved a major achievement in T20 cricket on Friday. He became the first Indian batsman to score 12000 runs in T20 history. Kohli reached the milestone during RCB's IPL 2024 game against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With this, Kohli joins that elite list which has players like Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard. West Indies' T20 legend Gayle is at the top with 14562 T20 runs, while Pakistan's Shoaib Malik is at the second position with 13360 runs. West Indies' star all-rounder Pollard is at third place with 12900 runs and England's Alex Hales is at fourth place with 12319 runs. After this comes David Warner (12065 runs), followed by Kohli. The Indian star achieved this feat in his 377th T20 match and 360th innings.

Fresh Virat Kohli is in good mental condition after the break. The player had skipped India's five-match Test series against England ahead of IPL 2024. Kohli missed the entire series as he welcomed his second child in February this year.

RCB director of cricket Mo Bobat, who was watching Kohli closely during training, had revealed that the great batsman was hitting the ball brilliantly.

“Virat is in a good place. We all know he is an absolute champion cricketer. So he is at that stage of his career, at that stage of his experience, where most of what he does is quite hard-working . He's coming fresh.” “We are excited about that,” Bobbt said in RCB's pre-match press conference ahead of the tournament opener.

“Kohli has taken some time off from his cricket. His mental condition is very good. He has spent good time with the family, he is refreshed with his energy and he is eager to get involved in the recent times.” “He has had some hits with us. He has been hitting the ball brilliantly the last few days.”
