Another season, another defeat for Mumbai Indians in the opening match, as the Hardik Pandya-led franchise lost to Gujarat Titans by 6 runs on Sunday. This match marked the beginning of a new era for Mumbai, with Hardik Pandya taking over the reins from Rohit Sharma. As the match ended with MI's defeat, Rohit was seen having an intense conversation with Hardik on the field, with franchise owner Akash Ambani also standing right next to him.

Throughout the match, Rohit remained in the headlines despite not being the captain of Mumbai Indians. Even during the match, Rohit could be seen talking to Hardik and other players, perhaps as part of some strategic decisions.

In a video that surfaced on social media, Hardik can be seen coming from behind to hug Rohit. But, the former MI skipper looked back and looked disappointed while having an in-depth conversation with the successor. Here is the video:

Despite the loss in the opening match, Hardik was not perturbed as he highlighted that the franchise has 13 more games to get things right.

Pandya said, “Obviously we back ourselves to chase those 42 runs (in the last five overs), but it was one of those days where we saw the score quite low in those last five overs, we Lost a little momentum there.” Post-match presentation.

“It's good to be back because it's a stadium where you can enjoy yourself and feel the atmosphere quite alive and obviously the crowd was packed and they got a good game as well.” When asked about Verma's refusal to take the single, the captain said, “I think at that time Tilak felt it was a better idea. I fully support him. No issue “Yeah, (we have) 13 games left.”
