New Delhi: hardik pandyaHis debut as Mumbai Indians captain was met with widespread disappointment from fans Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. This response strongly indicated team management's disapproval of the replacement choice. Rohit Sharma Pandya made captain
From fans, commentators to cricket experts, Pandya found himself at the center of criticism for the decisions he took during MI's opening match against Gujarat Titans.
Social media was filled with videos depicting the emotions of fans who were clearly not ready to accept Pandya as the captain of Mumbai Indians.

Pandya was heavily criticized by the Ahmedabad crowd, which shocked even former England player Kevin Pietersen, who said that he had never seen an Indian player behave like this before.
“I have never seen an Indian player being harassed the way they are harassing Hardik Pandya here in Ahmedabad. It is a rare occurrence,” Pietersen said on air.
Pietersen also expressed doubt over Pandya's decision to bowl the first over instead of including Jasprit Bumrah.
Why is Jasprit Bumrah not starting the bowling? I don't understand this. Fellow commentator Sunil Gavaskar supported his view: “Very good question. Very, very good question.”
Former India head coach Anil Kumble also took a dig at Pandya for not revealing the names when asked about the team combination by presenter Ravi Shastri at the time of the toss.
Pandya said he had 'four fast bowlers, three spinners and seven batsmen' to cover all departments.
“I would never expect Hardik to even tell us the names. Four fast bowlers, three spinners, five batsmen, 11 fielders, we all know. Who are they?” Kumble said on Jio Cinema.
His move of sending Tim David ahead of him also drew criticism and Irfan Pathan suggested that the new MI captain might be looking to avoid facing Rashid Khan.
