Speaking to 'Jio Cinema', Root stressed the team's preference for organic discussions away from the cricket field. “We don’t really have team meetings anymore,” he said.
“It's one of the great things about how we have all our conversations away from the game and how we enjoy and discuss time with each other,” Root said.
Root highlighted the authenticity and genuineness of conversations taking place outside of formal settings.
“We don't have to sit in the living room,” he explained. “I think it's more authentic and real when you can put it out on the dinner table. Having coffee in the morning or something, I think that's when you learn your best.”
Reflecting on England's playing style, Root highlighted the team's aggressive approach, which has led to success in the past.
He stressed, “No matter what the outcome of the game, we will always play the way we know how.” “That's what has brought us success over a long period of time. That's what brings out the best in us.”
Root also highlighted the team's ability to perform under pressure, citing past examples of remarkable comebacks.
“The last time we played against India in England, in that only Test, we were miles behind in the game and we managed to chase down that score,” he recalled.
Apart from this, Root also praised Ollie PopeHe played a brilliant innings in the opening Test against India and described it as one of the best overseas innings.
