New Delhi: Delhi Capitals assistant coach Mohd. Praveen Amrehas defended the team's decision to use Lalit Yadav In power play During the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad ipl 2024 encounter at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking on the strategic choice, Amre explained, “SRH's strength was the openers. Other teams also couldn't control it. We thought Lalit Yadav was a local, Delhi boy, so we took a chance on him.”
Despite the challenging start, Amre lauded Sunrisers Hyderabad for a brilliant batting performance, particularly acknowledging the explosive partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma that took SRH to a record-breaking total of 266/7 in their 20 overs. Delivered.

While chasing the target of Delhi Capitals, excellent performance was seen from Jake Fraser McGurk and Abhishek Porel. However, the team struggled to maintain momentum after his dismissal, ultimately falling short of the target and scoring only 199 runs in 19.1 overs.

Reflecting on the defeat, Amre emphasized the exceptional power-hitting displayed by SRH's batsmen during the powerplay.

“Credit to the way Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma batted during the powerplay. The intent we showed was incredible,” he said.
Despite the loss, Amre expressed confidence in the team's ability to bounce back, saying, “Abhishek Porel is a finisher, but we wanted to use him in the powerplay as well.”
