“What Made MI Decide Rohit Sharma Shouldn’t Lead?” Mark Boucher Asked In Hardik Pandya’s Presence. This Happens Next – Watch

There has been a lot of controversy regarding Hardik Pandya replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Pandya, who completed a sensational trade move from Gujarat Titans, ended Rohit's ten-year tenure as captain and the decision has divided both experts and fans. Hardik and head coach Mark Boucher answered questions from the media at an event organized by the franchise on Monday but both avoided answering questions related to the captaincy position. In several videos posted on social media, journalists were heard asking questions about Rohit and the situation, but were discouraged from continuing their questions.

In a video, a reporter asked Hardik if there was a 'captaincy clause' in his contract during the trade with MI, but the all-rounder did not answer the question. On another occasion, Boucher was asked why the team made Rohit the captain, but the former South African cricketer avoided answering.

Hardik believes that there will be no discomfort between him and Rohit. As MI prepares for the upcoming season, Hardik opened up about his relationship with Rohit and believes the Indian captain will bring his experience and support him throughout the season.

“First of all, it wouldn't be any different that if I needed his help he would be there to help me. Also, you also mentioned that he is the captain of the Indian cricket team which helps me because This team has achieved under his leadership and from now on it will be the same with what they have achieved, I will just carry it forward. So I don't think it will be strange or something different. It will be a good feeling because we have been heartier. “Having played for 10 years, I have played my entire career under him and yes, I know he will always have a hand on my shoulder throughout the season,” he said.

Hardik also openly faced the reaction of the fans regarding the change in captaincy. He emphasized his mindset of focusing on things that are within his control and not on factors that are out of his control.

“Yes, I will bowl, to be honest, we respect the fans but at the same time we also focus on the game, I focus on what is required, I control the controllable, I don't focus on what I can't control and also at the moment we are grateful to the fans. A lot of fame comes from them. I respect their opinion,” Pandya said.
